Next key player stays – third division club also interested

Wuppertaler SV is continuing to make progress in terms of squad planning for 2023/2024. Six players have now been signed for the new season.

Wuppertaler SV, in the person of its sporting director Stephan Küsters, has recently extended the contracts of players Philipp Hanke and Tobias Peitz. RevierSport reported.

In addition to these extensions, it was already known that goalkeeper Sebastian Patzler, midfielder Kevin Rodrigues Pires, U19 talent Jeff Tchouangue and the loaned Isaak Akritidis (1. FC Bocholt) have valid contracts until 30 June 2024.

Lukas Demming now joins the aforementioned five permanent players for the 2023/2024 season. RevierSport has learned that the central midfielder, who is being courted by a third-division club and several Regionalliga clubs, has extended his contract. Update (6.27pm): In the meantime, the club has officially announced the contract extension.

The 23-year-old Demming moved from SC Wiedenbrück to Wuppertaler SV last summer and turned out to be a reinforcement. Even though Demming, who was trained in the Wiedenbrück youth system and is only in his second spell with the WSV, was out for a long time with a torn muscle bundle, he has been a key player in the second half of the season so far and has only missed one match since matchday 12. In all other matches, he has been on the pitch from the first minute and has played a total of 15 games for Wuppertaler SV. And there will be many more in the future.

After the victories against Lippstadt (3:1) and Rödinghausen (1:0), WSV will take a break next weekend and will not play again until 1 April (Saturday, 2 pm). Then it’s off to Gelsenkirchen to FC Schalke 04 II.
