KFC Uerdingen’s squad planning is going from strength to strength. The promoted regional league team has now signed a prolific attacker.
After the big wave of departures at KFC Uerdingen, the Krefeld club is still busy making the squad fit for the coming season in the Regionalliga West with new additions.
Shortly before the start of the new season at the weekend, the promoted team presented its 16th new signing. Ali Hassan Hammoud is a new goalscorer at the Grotenburg. The 24-year-old spent the last two years with Ratingen 04/19 in the Oberliga Niederrhein – Uerdingen’s biggest rivals in last season’s promotion race.
Hammoud was a pale figure in both games against KFC, but otherwise the Dinslaken-born player showed his accuracy. He scored 15 goals in 30 appearances for Ratingen. This figure puts him fourth in the goalscoring charts.
Dimitrios Touratzidis from KFC was successful once again. He has left Uerdingen for FC Gütersloh – Hammoud is likely to be the Greek’s successor in coach René Lewejohann’s team
Hammoud also scored reliably for Ratingen in the 2022/23 season (12). He had previously played for Jahn Hiesfeld and 1. FC Kleve in the Oberliga and also made a detour to Lebanon. His senior career once began at Arminia Klosterhardt in the Landesliga.
KFC sporting director Adalet Güler is convinced that Hammoud will now also find his feet in the regional league: “Ali is a player who is very ambitious and very willing to learn. He has improved year on year in his career so far and will also master the new challenge in the higher league well.”
