To date, two players from SV Straelen had found new clubs. Now player number three is following – he is moving to the district league.
Marcio Blank is moving to SV Scherpenberg in the Landesliga Staffel 2, and Tom Hirsch is moving to 1. FC Monheim in the Landesliga Staffel 1 in the Lower Rhine region. These were two SV Straelen players who were introduced to their new clubs.
After the withdrawal of the Straelener from the Oberliga, Markus Müller was also able to present his new club. The 35-year-old striker, who played 18 games (five goals, two assists) for Straelen in the current Oberliga season, is joining Bezirksligist TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum.
“In the talks, I unpacked all the football romanticism that was available to me. We started together at TSV two and a half years ago, and it would of course be great if we could finish it together successfully. We talked nonsense for five minutes and then Markus signed without really reading everything carefully. We have a great relationship based on trust,” said Timo Pastoors, TSV sports director, to ‘Fupa’.
TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum is bottom of the table with just seven points. They are ten points behind the safety line.
Of course, the club hopes that with Müller, TSV will still manage to catch up and avoid being relegated to the district league A. Müller has a wealth of experience from higher leagues, having played professionally for several years.
He played for clubs such as Erzgebirge Aue, Hallescher FC, Wormatia Worms, Babelsberg 03 and Kickers Offenbach. Müller even made two appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, and played 70 times (scoring 16 goals) in the 3rd Bundesliga. The Eberswalde native played well over 100 games in the Regionalliga Südwest (39 goals), where he celebrated the championship with Kickers Offenbach in 2015. Perhaps he will celebrate TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum’s relegation-avoidance in the Bezirksliga in May 2024.
