To date, two SV Straelen players have found new clubs. Now player number three follows – this one is moving to the Bezirksliga.
Marcio Blank is moving to SV Scherpenberg in the Landesliga Staffel 2 and Tom Hirsch to 1. FC Monheim in the Landesliga Staffel 1 on the Lower Rhine. These were two players from SV Straelen who were introduced to their new clubs.
Following Straelen’s withdrawal from the Oberliga, Markus Müller was also able to present his new club. The 35-year-old striker, who played 18 matches (five goals, two assists) for Straelen in the current Oberliga season, has joined Bezirksliga club TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum.
“During the talks, I unpacked all the soccer romanticism I could muster. We started out together at TSV two and a half years ago, and it would of course be a great story if we could bring things to a successful sporting conclusion together. We talked stupidly for five minutes and then Markus signed the contract without really reading it all through. We have a great relationship of trust,” Timo Pastoors, TSV sporting director, is quoted as saying by “Fupa”.
TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum are bottom of the table with just seven points. They are ten points adrift of the safety margin
Clear: The club hopes that TSV will be able to catch up with Müller and avoid dropping into the Kreisliga A. Müller certainly brings a wealth of experience from higher leagues, having spent several years as a professional.
He played for clubs such as Erzgebirge Aue, Hallescher FC, Wormatia Worms, Babelsberg 03 and Kickers Offenbach. Müller even made two appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, and in the 3rd Bundesliga, he made 70 appearances (16 goals). Born in Eberswalde, he played well over 100 games in the Regionalliga Südwest (39 goals), where he celebrated the championship with Kickers Offenbach in 2015. He may have celebrated winning the district league with TSV Wachtendonk-Wankum in May 2024
