Even ETB SW Essen, second in the Oberliga Niederrhein, is expanding its activities in women’s soccer.
The trend is clear. More and more girls and women are devoting themselves to women’s soccer. The number of spectators is also rising. 1. FC Köln plans to get 30,000 spectators to a home game in the near future. The FC has already reached the current record of Eintracht Frankfurt with over 23,200 tickets sold.
And this trend is now also being taken into account by numerous traditional clubs. In recent years, for example, major clubs in the Ruhr region such as VfL Bochum (regional league), Schalke 04 (first in the district league) and Borussia Dortmund (just promoted to the regional league) have established women’s teams.
This will also mean a shift in the women’s Bundesliga in the coming years, as former top teams like Turbine Potsdam have been or will be replaced. A few days ago, for example, RB Leipzig made the leap into the women’s Bundesliga.
Of course, ETB SW Essen does not dream of these spheres. Nevertheless, the Essen club is planning to expand its women’s teams. In the current season, an U15 team has been registered, and an U17 girls’ team is to follow in the coming season.
But something is also to happen with the senior women. Here, the club from the south of Essen is also planning to send a women’s team to the starting line in the short term.
The ETB reports in a statement: “The ETB Schwarz-Weiß offers training on artificial turf, and if possible, of course, on natural grass in the home Uhlenkrug Stadium. For this purpose, the female soccer players are supported by a top trained and experienced team of coaches. Of course, all women at ETB are supported and equipped in the best possible way! Those responsible at Uhlenkrug would be very pleased if many female players would like to join this project at short notice.”
For this purpose, two sighting sessions are offered:
