Next weather-related game cancellation

The Bundesliga is lamenting another weather-related cancellation.

Following the match between FC St. Pauli and RB Leipzig, the clash between Werder Bremen and TSG Hoffenheim has also fallen victim to snowstorm “Elli.” The game, which was also scheduled for Saturday (3:30 p.m.), was officially canceled on Friday, as was the Pauli vs. RB game. A new date will be announced “in the near future,” according to the German Soccer League (DFL).

“The current weather conditions have led to widespread icing and significant snow drifts in large parts of the stadium area, which make it impossible to play the game safely,” said the DFL. According to the stadium operator, the Weser Stadium is “unusable” as a result.

Winter weather has been causing complications in northern Germany for days. Rail traffic has also been severely disrupted, and schools have been closed in many places due to the weather.
