The Niederrheinpokal jersey of Rot-Weiss Essen was sold out online after only a short time. But not everything went smoothly.
Rot-Weiss Essen will be competing in the Niederrheinpokal this season with a special jersey. The red kit is adorned with white lettering of the beer partner “Stauder”. RWE already wore these shirts in the first round, when they beat SuS Dinslaken 6-0. In the second round against SC St. Tönis (Wednesday, 27 September, 7 p.m.), the Essen team will again be wearing this shirt.
Online sales show that the campaign is also going down very well with the fans. On Monday, supporters had their first chance to buy the red jersey. However, “within a few minutes” the stock had already been bought up, as the club announced in the afternoon.
Slight problems with the sale
While the sale was a resounding success for the club, it did not go smoothly at all points. “We have received feedback from some fans that purchase transactions in the online shop were cancelled during the order process. In order to avoid this situation in the future, RWE will work hard to find the cause and make technical adjustments,” RWE announced via “X”, formerly “Twitter”.
But even for fans who went away empty-handed at the first attempt, there will still be a second chance to win the Niederrheinpokal jersey. However, they still need a little patience.
Second chance in the fan shop
A second batch will be available for purchase in the fanshop on Hafenstraße. As with the home jersey, however, there are also problems with the special jersey. The club is talking about “delivery problems at the refiner”, which is why it is not yet possible to estimate when the remaining jerseys will be available for purchase.
Before the red jersey is unpacked again, however, there are still two duels in the 3rd division. First of all, RWE will welcome relegated Jahn Regensburg to Hafenstraße next Saturday (2 p.m.), and a week later they will play promoted SSV Ulm on Sunday (1.30 p.m.).
