Two match days before the end of the season, KFC Uerdingen are well on their way to the Regionalliga. Off the pitch, however, things remain unsettled.
Next Friday, KFC Uerdingen could secure promotion to the Regionalliga West with a home win against Spielvereinigung Schonnebeck. If not, there would be a second match point on Sunday (June 2, 3 p.m.) at FC Büderich.
But to what extent does it even make sense for KFC Uerdingen to make the possible trip to the 4th division? Forecasting has once again learned that no salaries have been paid to the players and coaching team this week. These are the April salaries. The May and June salaries will follow.
“Yes, unfortunately that’s true. We haven’t received any money again. The board was in the dressing room and tried to reassure us. The club is doing everything it can to make sure we get our money. There’s nothing more to say at the moment,” KFC coach Levan Kenia confirmed to RS-Info.
The interim coach of Uerdingen, who is keeping the team together under these conditions, motivating them time and again and doing a great job, added: “We can only train and win our games – to secure promotion. Everything else is beyond our control. We have to live with this situation, but it’s not nice. We hope that the club will fulfill all its obligations.”
That is likely to be very difficult. RS knows, for example, that former coach Marcus John was the last to receive his February salary from KFC. What’s more, John’s contract runs until June 30, 2025 – with improved conditions in the event of promotion.
The question remains: Where will KFC Uerdingen get this money from? According to our information, if the team is promoted, Krefeld will also have to pay around €100,000 in bonuses to the team
