From 7 p.m., Rot-Weiss Essen will be a guest at TSV 1860 Munich. This is how the teams will approach the catch-up game of the 18th match day.
From 7 p.m., Rot-Weiss Essen will be fighting for third place in the 3rd division. With a win in the catch-up game at TSV 1860 Munich, RWE would take over this hotly contested promotion relegation spot with 42 points for the time being.
At the pre-match press conference, Christoph Dabrowski emphasized that the team from Essen, who are a force to be reckoned with at the Hafenstraße ground but struggle away from home, face a tough challenge.
In terms of the line-up, the matter will not be made any easier at the Grünwalder Straße ground in front of 15,000 fans – including around 1,300 from Essen.
In addition to captain Vinko Sapina (knee problems), who is already out, Dabrowski will also have to do without Jakob Golz against 1860. The number one is absent due to illness. “Jakob unfortunately had flu symptoms after warming up and is out. But Felix will replace him well,” Dabrowski explained on “Magenta TV”.
Golz will be replaced by Felix Wienand, who will thus make only his second third-division appearance for Rot-Weiss Essen. He made his debut on August 27 against Spielvereinigung Bayreuth (1:1).

What the coaches said before the game
Argirios Gianniks: “This is an important game for us. We need to get points to get out of the bottom three. We want to neutralize RWE and bring our strengths to the game. We know how strong Essen are. The team impressively showed against Freiburg that they can come from behind. I think it will be a very intense game.”
Christoph Dabrowski: “It’s going to be a very intensive week for us. But we’re well prepared and know what to expect. We naturally want to get something out of these long trips away and are aiming to reach the 40-point mark as early as Tuesday. I have a very good gut feeling about this. The team is in good form. 1860 Munich is a team that is trying with all its might to avoid relegation. They have a high quality. Since the new coach has been there, they have conceded few goals and are secure at the back. With Morris Schröter or Fynn Lakenmacher, they also have good players who are dangerous in attack. But we are also in good form and, as I said, want to break the 40-point mark.”
