Oberliga experience at FC Karnap – modesty before megalomania

Promotion race in Essen and furor over key players. These are the current topics of FC Karnap 07/27 in Group 1 of Kreisliga A.

There’s a lot going on at FC Karnap at the moment. The Kreisliga A is not coming to a standstill, because everything is running at full speed. Six teams are fighting for promotion and there are also six points separating them. FC Karnap are right in the middle of the race for promotion to the district league, now in fifth place and having won all of their last three games.

At the center of this is a man who has already gained experience in the Oberliga and is now lacing up his soccer boots for the Essen club from Karnap. We’re talking about Joel Lombardi, who played eleven games in his first senior year in the top division for ETB Schwarz-Weiß Essen and spent his youth playing in the Bundesliga for Fortuna Düsseldorf, among others. The 24-year-old’s path led him to Karnap Football Club via regional league clubs VFB Frohnhausen and SV Schlebusch.

Lombardi’s coach, Daniel Jost, appreciates the skills of his protégé: “Joel is naturally an exceptional player who brings experience that not many have. He helps to guide our younger players who are new to the team and does a really good job in that respect. “

“We’re up there thanks to a cohesive team that thinks and works match day after match day. I would put our goal in the fifth to tenth place range.”

Daniel Jost

Jost also had a few words to say about his team’s goals in the highly exciting Kreisliga A: “As a newly promoted team, we don’t necessarily see ourselves as part of the top group. We are up there thanks to a cohesive team that thinks and works from matchday to matchday. I would put our goal in the fifth to tenth place range. We significantly rejuvenated the squad not too long ago and want to develop and establish ourselves in the Kreisliga A. “
