Obuz is back, four RWE question marks ahead of 1860 – Dabrowski demands: “Find the switch”

Rot-Weiss Essen want to get ahead with a win on Friday evening against TSV 1860 Munich and then wait for Saturday’s results.

It’s going to be full at the Hafenstraße stadium! Rot-Weiss Essen are expecting a sell-out crowd for their last home game of the 2023/2024 season. 19,100 spectators – including 2,000 visiting fans – will watch the traditional clash between RWE and 1860 Munich.

Andreas Wiegel will definitely be missing from the red-and-white side on Friday evening. He is still injured and his participation in the last game of the season at VfB Lübeck is also questionable.

And there are also four RWE question marks: Because Sascha Voelcke, Lucas Brumme (both horse knock), Thomas Eisfeld (knock on the foot) and Sandro Plechaty (muscular problems) have come out of the game at SV Sandhausen (0:2) battered.

“They’ll train on Thursday and then we’ll see if they get through the session. If they do, then of course they’ll be part of the squad,” said Christoph Dabrowski.

We want to take Hafenstrasse with us! We want to play with determination and intensity. Hafenstraße, floodlights, last home game: this should be our evening

Christoph Dabrowski

There is one piece of good news for the Essen coach from the infirmary. Essen’s best player, top scorer Marvin Obuz, is back. Dabrowski: “He trained all week without any complaints and will be in the squad. We’ll see on Friday whether he’ll be in the first eleven.”

The visitors from Munich are not yet through in purely mathematical terms. Hallescher FC are currently five points clear of the first relegation spot. Dabrowski knows that too. Accordingly, he expects the Lions to be motivated at Hafenstrasse.

“I’m expecting the same picture as in the first leg. 1860 will defend compactly and patiently and increasingly come down the wings. It’s a challenging opponent. But our approach is clear: we want to take Hafenstrasse with us! We want to play with determination and intensity. Hafenstrasse, floodlights, last home game: this should be our night,” says Dabrowski.

And how was the mood in the team after the 0:2 in Sandhausen? Dabrowski’s answer: “I was disappointed immediately after the game in Sandhausen, then we took a day off and looked ahead. We have to bring the elements that have made us strong over the weeks and the season back onto the pitch. It’s up to us to find the right switch to do that. “
