Officially! 131-time third division player joins from the competition

Alemannia Aachen continue to add to their ranks and are gearing up for the 3rd division. Leandro Putaro, a very experienced player, has now arrived.

Forecasting had already reported on this transfer, now it’s official: Leandro Putaro has joined Alemannia Aachen and is turning his back on VfL Osnabrück. This was announced by both clubs on Sunday morning, June 23. Both clubs have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

“We watched Leandro closely during the recently concluded season and really liked his style of play. He shows a great willingness to run, works a lot on the pitch and is very versatile in attack. He is also a good size at 1.87 meters. As a player with third and second division experience, he will be an important building block for our new squad and will certainly help us achieve our goals,” said Sascha Eller, managing director of Aachen.

Last season, Putaro played for Arminia Bielefeld on loan and scored three goals in 25 appearances to help the East Westphalians stay in the third division. The Göttingen-born player, who is primarily at home on the attacking wings but also in the center, joined Osnabrück in 2022.

He previously played for SC Verl and Eintracht Braunschweig, and also played for Arminia Bielefeld from 2016 to 2018. Before that, Putaro was part of VfL Wolfsburg, which was also his training club alongside Hannover 96.

Over the course of his career, the experienced new signing has made 131 appearances in the 3rd division (15 goals, 11 assists) and 36 appearances (two goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga. Putaro can also look back on four brief appearances for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and one substitute appearance in the Champions League in Wolves kit.

“I’m happy that the switch worked out and that I can now give it my all here at Alemannia. I’m really looking forward to the new task and I’m looking forward to the stadium, the fans and the first home game here at the Tivoli,” said Putaro himself about his new role.
