“One of the best defenders in the league” – Havelse steps up

TSV Havelse has strengthened its central defense. The experienced player is being praised in the highest terms.

The transfer window may be closed in Germany, but players without a club can still be signed. TSV Havelse has now taken advantage of this opportunity.

As the third division club announced on Friday, Semi Belkahia has been signed until the end of the season. The 26-year-old spent the last two years at Arminia Bielefeld and had not yet found a new club.

“I am very happy that we have managed to sign Semi,” said sporting director Florian Riedel, emphasizing: “Semi is one of the best center backs in the third division in terms of his abilities. We want to help him get back to showing his skills week after week. He already has a lot of experience in the 3rd division and impresses not only with his physical presence and strength in one-on-one situations when defending, but above all with his excellent technique and very good ball distribution. His skills will be very beneficial to our game.”

High praise for Belkahia, who has only made 19 appearances for Bielefeld in the last two years. However, this was also due to knee surgery, which sidelined the Munich native for several months. Nevertheless, he was unable to secure a new contract with Arminia: last season, he only played one minute in the 3rd division and, after the turn of the year, was no longer even included in the matchday squad. Everyone at the club has welcomed me from the start and made me feel positive about this decision. I want to get the best possible results for the club with the guys on the pitch this season and I’m looking forward to fighting for points for Havelse for the first time soon,” Belkahia said about the transfer.

The tall center back was trained in the youth teams of FC Bayern Munich and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim before moving to TSV 1860 Munich via VfR Garching. Belkahia has played a total of 88 third division games.
