“Only” 0:5 against RWE – coach is proud of his team

SV Burgaltendorf sold itself more than dearly in the Lower Rhine Cup against RWE – despite the 5-0 defeat. Now they want to turn the tables in the league.

The fairy godmother gave SV Burgaltendorf the big city neighbour Rot-Weiss Essen in the first round of the Lower Rhine Cup. So it was no surprise that the sports field at the Windmühle was sold out on Tuesday evening with 800 spectators.

Sporting director Jörg Oswald expected a “double-digit defeat” beforehand, but after the 90 minutes played, the SVA boss was able to draw a positive conclusion. Burgaltendorf put in a committed performance against the big favourites from the 3rd division, made offensive pinpricks and “only” lost 5-0 (3-0) – a good result for the district league team.

Oswald was correspondingly satisfied after the final whistle: “That was much better than expected. RWE didn’t convince me, but maybe that was also because they’ve never played together in this constellation before. After the way the game went, we would have deserved a goal. All in all, it was a successful evening, and sales were also good. We can be satisfied. “

Against our compact defence, Rot-Weiss had problems finding the right solutions. The boys did a great job – in terms of running, fighting, but also in the transition game. I’m proud of the team.

Coach Sascha Hense also praised his team for their courageous performance: “We did really well in the first half and even created two very good chances. We were also on our game against the ball. Against our compact defence, Rot-Weiss had problems finding the right solutions. The boys did a great job – in terms of running, fighting, but also in the transition game. I’m proud of the team. “

After the big highlight against RWE, Burgaltendorf is challenged in the league. After their relegation from the Landesliga, the Bezirksliga club has made a mess of its first two games. A 1:6 defeat against fellow relegated team Blau-Gelb Überruhr was followed by a 2:7 defeat in Werden-Heidhausen. This sealed the false start.

On Sunday (28 August, 3 p.m.), the team will have to improve considerably against league newcomer SuS Niederbonsfeld. Coach Hense demands the same: “I want to see the attitude and passion from the game against RWE in the championship as well. That has to be the benchmark. Our first two games were unacceptable, we have to show a different face now. “
