KFC Uerdingen is worried about its liquidity. Despite several requests, the main sponsor is not paying. The club doesn’t have much time left.
Forecasting already reported that KFC Uerdingen is in financial trouble. The reason: main sponsor “dasbob” has not yet paid the contractually agreed sums – or only to a small extent.
The company let several deadlines set by the club pass, and now the outstanding amount is said to have reached 250,000 euros. Reason enough for the traditional club to now turn to the public with an open letter.
Because KFC is apparently up to its neck in water, as the letter suggests. It reads: “Unfortunately, we are now forced to inform you that our largest contractual sponsor – apart from a first installment as an advance payment after the contract was signed in April and a smaller payment in November – has not yet made any payments this season despite many discussions and announcements. As a result, the club now has almost EUR 250,000 in outstanding receivables from its main sponsor, even though KFC has fulfilled all its contractual obligations.”
So far, this has been compensated for, partly because another sponsor has brought forward its payments, but the end of the line has now been reached, as the club emphasizes: “In the first few months of the season, we were able to bridge this with ticket sales and other sponsor income, some of which was also brought forward. However, we have now reached the point where we can no longer compensate for the shortfalls and cannot do without the payments from the main sponsor, which accounts for a third of the total budget. The next payment obligations are coming up soon, so we don’t have much time left. “

First consequence: The advertising measures will be stopped immediately, legal steps will be initiated and the search for new sponsors has begun.
KFC concludes its letter: “We will now focus all our efforts on acquiring new sponsors in order to broaden our joint position. Anyone who would like to help is welcome and invited to get in touch with us. We are currently working on a marketing concept in which everyone has the opportunity to get involved.”
In sporting terms, the team has made good progress in the Oberliga Niederrhein, with five wins in a row recently, which makes promotion to the Regionalliga seem realistic again. Now the conditions just have to be right
