Opponent praises FC Schalke 04 U23s – “The best offense in the league”

On Friday evening, the reserves of Fortuna Düsseldorf and FC Schalke 04 drew 1:1. What the coaches had to say.

Andreas Ivan earned FC Schalke 04’s second team a point in their clash at Fortuna Düsseldorf.

His goal on the stroke of half-time equalized Fortuna’s 1-0 lead, which dated back to the 17th minute. Luiz Felipe Monteiro converted a penalty. In the end, the 1:1 draw was a fair share of the points.

Jens Langeneke, Düsseldorf’s coach, praised his team, but also that of S04: “That was an intense game from both sides. I saw Schalke in Oberhausen and they played very good soccer there. We had our chances in that game, but I don’t want to bemoan them either. We’ll take the point. After all, Schalke have the strongest attack in the league. That’s why we’re satisfied.”

Jakob Fimpel appeared somewhat more miffed and dissatisfied. The Schalke reserve team coach summed up: “Of course, it wasn’t an easy game in the rain and on the deep pitch. Although it would have been possible, we failed to get pace into our game. The balls were played too slowly, the speed with and without the ball was too slow. It was a weak game from us in possession, which meant we ran into very bitter counter-attacks. The clear chances came on the counter-attack. We also finished our shots poorly. Both teams fought well. Overall, however, it was a weak game from our side.

While Düsseldorf travel to SV Rödinghausen next Saturday (November 18, 2 p.m.), Schalke’s next match will be against a Fortuna: SC Fortuna Köln will visit the Parkstadion in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday (also November 18, 2 p.m.).
