Second division promoted VfL Osnabrück has signed former Bayern Munich professional Michael Cuisance on the last day of the transfer deadline.
Michael Cuisance will play for VfL Osnabrück with immediate effect. The 24-year-old Frenchman comes on loan for one year from the Italian second division club FC Venice. The Osnabrück club made the announcement on Friday evening.
Cuisance had moved from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Bayern Munich in 2019 as a great talent for eight million euros.
However, the former French junior international failed to establish himself at the German champions. A loan to Olympique Marseille was followed by a move to Italy in January 2022.
“Michael has enormous footballing qualities and will enrich our game with his creative impulses,” said Osnabrück sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh. “He was keen to return to Germany to develop his footballing skills again in a calm and professional environment. We are very pleased that he has chosen VfL despite various other options.”
Champions League winner in the 2019/2020 season.
Despite his young years, the Frenchman brings a lot of experience to Bremer Brücke. The left-footer already has 46 appearances in the 1st Bundesliga, 25 matches in the Italian Serie A and 23 games in the French Ligue A, among others, to his name. In addition, he has made six appearances in the DFB Cup and six in the Champions League. He won the latter in the 2019/20 season with FC Bayern Munich. With the German record champions, Michaël Cuisance was also twice German champion, DFB Cup winner and also won the UEFA Super Cup.
Cuisance, who speaks German and whom the fans of Borussia Mönchengladbach named “Player of the Season” in 2018, is coming to Osnabrück with his wife and child and is full of anticipation: “If you think about VfL, you immediately think about the fantastic fans and the atmospheric stadium. The club is a real traditional club and I am happy that it worked out with the transfer. The talks with those responsible at VfL gave me the good feeling right from the start that I am in the right place at the right time. I can’t wait to play in purple and white. “
