Osnabrück with change in coaching team – new man comes from FC Bayern

Personnel change at the crisis-stricken 3rd division club: VfL Osnabrück coach Pit Reimers gets a new analyst but loses an assistant coach.

VfL Osnabrück is in deep crisis. Last year still playing in the 2nd Bundesliga, the relegated team now finds itself in the 3rd league. And things are not going any better here either, with the next personnel change to follow.

After a 0-3 defeat to Dynamo Dresden, the Lower Saxony club is bottom of the table after 14 matchdays. Osnabrück has only managed two wins, and with 28 goals conceded, VfL has the worst defense in the league.

After only six match days, coach Uwe Koschinat had to leave, and his successor Pit Reimers is not doing much better (1 win, 2 draws, 4 defeats). Now there are further changes in the coaching team, as the bottom club announced during the international break.

Assistant coach Maniyel Nergiz is leaving the club and will be replaced by a new video analyst. Nergiz only joined Koschinat’s coaching staff in the summer and has now asked for his contract to be terminated “for personal reasons,” the club said in a statement.

We are now looking intensively at who could best complement our coaching team in the current situation.

VfL sporting director Philipp Kaufmann

“We respect Maniyel’s decision and have quickly found a mutual solution. On behalf of VfL, I would like to thank Maniyel for his commitment to the club and for his cooperation. We wish him all the best for his professional and personal future,“ said VfL sporting director Philipp Kaufmann.

To compensate for his departure, reinforcements will also be coming from FC Bayern. Ferhat Findik is joining us from the record champions’ youth academy. ”We are now looking closely at which profile would be a useful addition to our coaching team in the current situation. In the meantime, we have filled the position of analyst, which Maniyel previously held in parallel, with Ferhat Findik. With the change of coach, video analysis has once again gained more importance in our daily work. With the signing of Ferhat, we are taking this into account and are convinced that we will benefit greatly from it in the future.”

Whether this personnel change will have an effect remains to be seen in the coming weeks. The VfL has important games ahead of it if it is to stay in touch with the safety zone until Christmas. The Osnabrück team’s next game is on Sunday (November 24) against FC Ingolstadt.
