A good day for MSV Duisburg: Daniel Ginczek has signed. Coach Boris Schommers is confident that the new signing will solve the problems in attack.
The time of Sebastian Mai is over – at least as a center forward. On Monday morning, before the test match against FC Eindhoven (6:1), MSV Duisburg announced the signing of center forward Daniel Ginczek, which had already been more than evident recently.
The ex-Fortune player was Duisburg’s first transfer. But it didn’t stop there: the next new signing followed on Monday evening, again for the offense. Ahmet Engin returned to the Zebras. However, the four new additions that coach Boris Schommers had hoped for will probably not happen.
Nevertheless, it is good news for the Meiderich club after the transfer-free moves of Baran Moltugay (destination unknown) and Caspar Jander (1. FC Nürnberg) were announced in the summer.
Ginczek will wear the number 33 at MSV, is no stranger to the Ruhr region (he has already played for Borussia Dortmund and VfL Bochum) and is expected to help the Meiderich club overcome their lack of offense. With just 17 goals from 20 games, they have the second lowest scoring attack – only the bottom team in the table, SC Freiburg’s second team, has scored one goal less
Daniel Ginczek is our clear nine.
Boris Schommers
Accordingly, MSV coach Boris Schommers, who expressed his delight at the press conference to introduce Ginczek, is also full of hope. During the test match, Schommers also spoke briefly about his new signing, who was unable to play against FC Eindhoven. “He will help us score the goals we need and achieve our goal of staying in the league. Daniel Ginczek is our clear nine.”
Daniel Ginczek is keen to get going
Ginczek has twelve days until the first competitive match of the 2024 calendar year, so it’s high time to get into the swing of things with his team-mates and do everything he can to get out of the basement. Or, as Ginczek put it so beautifully: “Let’s get going!”
