Many fans often wonder how a Bundesliga player can be broke after his career ends? This former professional footballer certainly knows how.
Adam Hlousek will certainly be a familiar name to die-hard fans of the Bundesliga.
After all, the eight-time Czech international was under contract with clubs like 1. FC Nürnberg, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and VfB Stuttgart.
Hlousek, now 34, played a total of 81 Bundesliga games (four goals, four assists) and was also active 110 times (10, 9) in the 1st Czech League (for Viktoria Pilsen and Slavia Prague, among others) and 115 times (5, 9) in the 1st Polish League (for Legia Warsaw, among others). And now? According to unanimous reports in the Czech and Polish media, the former combative defender has gone into hiding.
Why? Because Hlousek is said to have debts amounting to the equivalent of around one million euros. He is even said to owe money to former teammates. They are currently unable to contact him and do not know where the Czech is.
Hlousek is still officially under contract with Czech first division club FC Trinity Zlin. “I don’t know if he is at the beach or Brazil. I last saw him at the beginning of winter preparation. After that he disappeared. Since then, certain people have been looking for him, but it’s not me,” Pavel Vrba, Zlin’s coach is quoted as saying on the portal “TVP Sport”.
Hlousek’s lawyers are said to have recently filed for private insolvency on behalf of their client. The professional footballer is said to have accumulated his debts during his time at Legia Warsaw, among other things. The portal “przegladsportowy.onet.pl.” reports that Hlousek owes around 224,000 euros to his former team-mate Kasper Hamalainen and almost 15,000 euros to his Czech compatriot Tomas Neci. The footballer is also said to have debts to a German bank, four Polish financial institutions as well as Polish financial and health offices.
