Part two of the double test against Augsburg – click here for the live ticker

At 5 p.m., Rot-Weiss Essen will play a second test match against FC Augsburg. Our colleagues from the WAZ will be providing live coverage.

One week before the start of the third division season, Rot-Weiss Essen is completing its final test. Coach Uwe Koschinat and his team have traveled to southern Germany, where they will face Bundesliga club FC Augsburg on Friday in Dillingen an der Donau, about 550 kilometers away.

To make the long trip worthwhile and give the entire squad a chance to play, two test matches will be played. The first match kicked off at 3 p.m. RWE achieved a respectable 2-1 victory. The second match began shortly after 5 p.m.

Our colleagues from the WAZ are reporting live from the scene and providing a live ticker for both games. Click here for the live ticker for RWE’s second test match against FC Augsburg

RWE’s line-up for the second test match: Wienand – Rios Alonso, Gnagnon, Kraulich, Bouebari – Bazzoli, Moustier – Owusu, Arslan, Müsel – Janssen

At the Dillinger Donaustadion, Essen will have to do without two new signings, Marvin Obuz (abdominal muscle strain) and Jaka Cuber Potocnik (minor muscle tear). In addition to the offensive players, Lucas Brumme (torn ligament in his ankle) is also out. Right-back Michael Kostka (training deficit) is also not yet an option. James Gnagnon (17, center back), Rael Nakuzola (18, left back), Dominik Hardi (17, midfielder), Kamil Kaya (18, forward), and Larson Ferati (18, forward) are all included. The 17-year-old talent Nico Schulte-Kellinghaus injured his knee, possibly seriously. After a tackle, his opponent fell on his knee. He had to be substituted.

RWE played as follows in their first test match: Golz – Celebi (73. Gnagnon), Schultz, Schulte-Kellinghaus (30. Kaya) – Hofmann, Gjasula, Swajkowski, Mizuta – Kaiser, Safi – Martinovic (73. Ferati).

While the matches against Augsburg are a dress rehearsal for RWE before the start of the league season and the Bergeborbecker want to confirm their good early form, FC Augsburg has not been in preparation for very long. So far, they have played and won three friendly matches against lower-league teams. Former Bundesliga striker Sandro Wagner, who was most recently assistant coach of the German national team, has been on the sidelines at FCA since this summer.
