Next addition for FC Schalke 04: Ron-Thorben Hoffmann joins the Royal Blues from second division rivals Eintracht Braunschweig.
The next addition for FC Schalke 04: After the departure of regular goalkeeper Marius Müller to first division club Wolfsburg was announced, those responsible were on the lookout for a successor. This has now been found: Ron-Thorben Hoffmann is moving to Gelsenkirchen from league rivals Eintracht Braunschweig. The 25-year-old has signed a contract until 2027.
“With Ron-Thorben, we are gaining a very responsive and athletic goalkeeper. He is characterized by his remarkably good switching after intercepted balls as well as his courageous actions when defending high balls,” said sporting director Marc Wilmots on behalf of the sporting management. “He also performed exceptionally well under difficult circumstances last season.”
Ron-Thorben Hoffmann: “Schalke is the right club for me” In the past season, Hoffmann made 33 appearances in the league and one match in the DFB Cup. He says of his move to Schalke: “I made my decision very consciously because I am convinced that Schalke is the right club for me.”
He continued: “During the talks, the people in charge showed me exactly what they expect from me. I’m already looking forward to getting started with the team in a few weeks and meeting the fans.”
This would also mean that nothing would stand in the way of Marius Müller’s departure. The regular keeper from last season is said to have reached an agreement with VfL Wolfsburg. According to media reports, the transfer fee is likely to be just over one million euros. Müller is set to sign in Wolfsburg until 2027. Despite a strong season at Schalke, he was only offered a slightly improved contract, which is why he has now forced the transfer.
With Hoffmann, his replacement has now arrived at Berger Feld. Müller’s departure should therefore only be a matter of time. According to media reports, the transfer will be announced soon
