Paul Pogba is in trouble: A doping test is positive. What now?
Paul Pogba, French national player and Juventus Turin midfielder, has been provisionally suspended from playing after a drug test in which elevated testosterone levels were detected.
The test was conducted after Juventus’ 3-0 win over Udinese on August 20. For Pogba, this incident is another setback in his career. The 30-year-old has struggled with ongoing injury problems since his return to Juventus in July 2022.
His private life is also not going well at the moment: his older brother is involved in an investigation into allegations of extortion.
Pogba’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, said they are now waiting for the results of the second doping sample before forming an opinion.
If the former Manchester United player is found guilty of doping, he could be banned for two to four years.
Didier Deschamps named him in the squad for the 2018 World Cup. Pogba made six appearances. On July 15, 2018, he won the World Cup with the “Equipe tricolore” in the final against Croatia, scoring the goal to make it 3:1 in the 59th minute. His team ultimately won the game 4:2.
