Pazurek on the misery: “It’s bitter at the moment, but it goes on”

SVg Velbert lost the basement duel against SC Wiedenbrück on matchday 16 and are therefore still bottom of the table. Markus Pazurek is hoping for a turnaround.

Things are going anything but smoothly at SSVg Velbert: Following their 2:1 defeat against direct rivals SC Wiedenbrück on matchday 16, the promoted side remain bottom of the Regionalliga West.

They have just eleven points to their name, have conceded the most goals in the league (37 goals) and have now gone eight matchdays without a win. SSVg midfielder Markus Pazurek was furious after the defeat in Wiedenbrück: “The defeat is totally unnecessary. I think we would have deserved at least a point. We were well in the game and came out of the break with the 1:1.”

However, a mistake by the otherwise strong back Marcel Lenz led to 1-2, from which the bottom team were unable to recover: “Then a mistake like that happens, which leads to us conceding a goal. That can happen from time to time, nobody is angry with our goalkeeper. The team gave everything.” Nevertheless, Pazurek sees no reason to bury his head in the sand: “At some point, the buck has to stop. I hope that happens quickly. It’s bitter at the moment, but we’ll move on.”

The veteran’s main complaint is the lack of luck this season: “To be honest, we’ve actually been the better team twelve or thirteen times in the 16 league games. It’s not that we’re a bad team. But we just don’t score enough goals, we have to chalk that up to ourselves. And defensively, we’re too tame in certain situations. “

What have we got to lose? Everyone expects us to lose these games. But I think Wuppertal know exactly how dangerous that can be.

Markus Pazurek on the games against Aachen and RWO

Velbert have three games left before the winter break to turn their fortunes around and take their place in the red lantern. The Bergisch club will host top team Alemannia Aachen on the next matchday. This will be followed by the next basement duel against SV Lippstadt. Another tough nut to crack awaits Pazurek and Co. at the end of the calendar year with Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

Despite the difficult situation, the 34-year-old six-man, who moved to the Bergisches Land in the summer from 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, who were relegated from the Regionalliga: “We know what to expect in Lippstadt, it’s another basement duel. And the other two games are bonus games for us, so we can go into them with a broad chest.”

“What do we have to lose?” asks Pazurek, teasing a rival. “Everyone expects us to lose these games. But I think Wuppertal know exactly how dangerous that can be. “
