Rot-Weiss Essen has also released a player after signing Clemens Fandrich. Luca Dürholtz has already left Hafenstraße.
RWE fans have waited a long time for this, then on Friday sports director Jörn Nowak presented the first reinforcement since the beginning of the season. Clemens Fandrich has signed at Hafenstraße. According to RevierSport information, he will receive a contract until 30 June 2024.
Luca Dürholtz has also signed until 2024, but with Spielvereinigung Elversberg. The 28-year-old terminated his contract in Essen, which was valid until the end of the season, and returns to Saarland. Dürholtz was team captain at Elversberg before joining RWE. RevierSport had already reported a few days ago that a Dürholtz return was imminent.
“Luca was not satisfied with his playing time lately and therefore approached us with a request for a change. With Clemens Fandrich, we were able to win another central midfielder for us, which is why we complied with his request. Luca was an important part of our team last season and contributed a lot to our promotion. We would like to thank him for his commitment to RWE and wish him all the best for the future, both athletically and privately,” explained RWE sports director Jörn Nowak.
Elversberg are delighted with the return of the central midfielder. SVE manager Nils Ole-Book: “We know about Luca’s qualities. He has proven his abilities in the past years in which he has played for the SVE. Luca still knows a large part of our team and our style of play, so we are sure that he will help us directly.”
Luca Dürholtz added: “I had a very nice time here in Elversberg, leaving wasn’t easy for me at the time. I’m all the more pleased to be returning to SVE and to continue the strong start to the season in the 3rd Division together with the club. “
