Perfect promotion! Big crowd sees victory against Schonnebeck

KFC Uerdingen is through! With a 3:1 victory over Spielvereinigung Schonnebeck, the Krefeld team secured promotion to the Regionalliga West.

KFC Uerdingen have done it. After a turbulent season with recurring chaos news, the team did its job and was promoted to the Regionalliga West.

With a 3:1 victory over Spielvereinigung Schonnebeck, coach Levan Kenia’s team made the move to the 4th division perfect – with one matchday to go before the end of the season. Of course, the truth is that the Krefeld team was promoted in third place because both Baumberg and Schonnebeck decided not to apply for a regional league license. Spurred on by over 5,000 fans in the Grotenburg Stadium, KFC Uerdingen got off to a flying start. Alexander Lipinski made it 1-0 after just three minutes, following a through pass from Hinata Gonda, which Lipinski latched onto and kept his cool in front of Schonnebeck goalkeeper Lukas Lingk.

Two minutes later it was almost 2:0! Gonda won the ball this time and passed the ball to Talarski, who moved into the center and his shot just missed the target.

KFC were the masters in their own house and kept going: 14th minute: Double chance for Uerdingen! Pepijn Schlösser passed to Lipinski, who ran centrally towards Lingk and shot, the rebound ended up with Gianluca Rizzo, but his shot was blocked. Luck for the visitors from Essen

In the 34th minute, luck was on the side of the hosts: Justin Härtel, in this case Krefeld’s last man, was too late against Robin Brandner, who fell, but the referee decided on a corner kick because he saw Härtel’s foot on the ball last. A very controversial situation that could also have been interpreted as an emergency brake. Brandner (41) had another chance shortly before half-time, but sent the ball into the side netting.

In the second half, Lipinski (56) sealed the deal. Artur Golubytskij (85) could only reduce the deficit and Pascal Weber made it 3:1 in stoppage time. The rest was simply great joy for the players and officials of KFC Uerdingen and over 5,000 fans.
