Platzek scores late – another matchday to RWE II’s taste

Rot-Weiss Essen II wants to get into the district league. After 14 matchdays, the lead at the top has grown again.

On Monday, the carnival season, also known as the “fifth season”, begins in Cologne. In Essen, the carnival season already started on Saturday. Alaaf in the Ruhr area – 5,000 visitors in the Grugahalle, including bands such as Kasalla and Brings.

Stefan Lorenz, coach of A-Kreisligist Rot-Weiss Essen, was also there for his employer Stauder, dressed in proper style as Pils. He saw how the bands delivered, the crowd went wild.

One day later, he saw his team in action. In the top match, RWE II hosted RuWa Dellwig and in the end, the team from Essen won 2-1. Joel Leon Bema gave RWE an early lead with his 15th goal of the season, and after Dellwig was sent off, it looked like it would be a quiet afternoon.

But Dellwig equalized through Milad Mansoori, who was sent off. The equalizer held until just before the end, when former professional Marcel Platzek scored the winning goal with his 17th goal of the season with three minutes left on the clock.

After the home win, RWE now has a ten-point lead over Dellwig. It therefore looks like a three-way fight for promotion to the district league. SC Frintrop 05/21, in third place, won their game against Bader SV 1-0. Finn Felshart was responsible for the only goal of the game.

The game went less well for the second team. DJK SG Altenessen had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Helene Essen. Muhammed Filizay even gave Helene a two-goal lead. But David Lucic before half-time and Stefan Geiger after half-time equalized twice.

Nevertheless, the gap to the top is now widening for Altenessen as well. After 14 match days, RWE has a six-point lead over Altenessen and Frintrop.

In the basement, Ballfreunde Bergeborbeck suffered a defeat after their first win of the season. They lost 1-2 at DJK SF Katernberg II, who were second to last before the match day. The gap to a non-relegation place is now nine points for Ballfreunde.
