MSV Duisburg are under a lot of pressure in the derby at Rot-Weiss Essen. Previously, managing director Michael Preetz was a guest in our podcast.
MSV Duisburg are gradually running out of games in the relegation battle in the 3rd soccer league. After the bitter setback in the basement duel at Arminia Bielefeld at Easter (0:2), the coming weekend could possibly be the last opportunity for the Zebras to get closer to the non-relegation places.
And that in the derby at Rot-Weiss Essen in the afternoon (4.30 pm) of all places. The team from Meiderich is currently five points behind the drop zone.
Depending on how their rivals from Mannheim and Bielefeld play, the gap could have widened further by the time MSV face their rivals from Essen-Bergeborbeck this afternoon.
However, Duisburg’s managing director Michael Preetz also sees a great opportunity in the regional duel: “I am firmly convinced that we can get things moving again with a win in Essen.” The 56-year-old said this in the latest episode of our podcast “fußball inside”, in which Preetz was a guest on Thursday.
The ex-professional took almost an hour to discuss in detail with MSV reporter Dirk Retzlaff and presenter Timo Düngen – about the importance of Sunday’s derby, the status of plans for a possible relegation to the Regionalliga, his own future and many other topics. Have fun listening in!
