Premier League club looks set to cut beer prices

English Premier League club West Ham United may be looking to lower the price of beer and other food at home games, according to a report by British news agency PA.

The London first division football club is responding to outraged reactions from its fans to the current prices.

West Ham fans had complained after they had to pay 7.30 pounds (the equivalent of about 8.60 euros) for a beer at the first home game of the season last Sunday. At local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, on the other hand, a pint cost only about 5.20 pounds (around 6.10 euros).

According to a report in the tabloid “Daily Mail”, West Ham had at times even considered legal action against the owner of the London Stadium, which was built for the 2012 Olympic Games and now houses the traditional club from the east of London. According to the PA, however, that does not seem to be necessary. Talks are already taking place and prices are being reduced, it said on Friday.
