President Hermann Tecklenburg files for insolvency for his company

Hermann Tecklenburg, long-time president of SV Straelen, is insolvent. He has filed for insolvency for his company.

Hermann Tecklenburg has been at the helm of SV Straelen for many years, acting as president and sponsor of the club from the Dutch border. For the time being, however, the 75-year-old will probably no longer be able to invest large sums in the club close to his heart.

This is because the entrepreneur is insolvent and filed for insolvency at the Kleve district court on Wednesday. This relates to Tecklenburg GmbH, Tecklenburg Projektentwicklungs GmbH and two other project companies in Dortmund and Ratingen.

The reason for this is the current development of the construction industry, which has made the insolvency application unavoidable, the real estate company announced. In particular, the sale of a major project that had already been completed was firmly planned for the end of 2023, but could not be realized.

The resulting liquidity bottleneck led to the decision to go to the local court. Nevertheless, there are positive prospects for the continued existence of the 146-year-old family business, which employs around 140 people.

“Hermann Tecklenburg’s declared aim is to continue to run the company and complete all construction projects with the promised quality and on schedule. The good order and project backlog forms the solid basis for a successful restructuring in the context of the insolvency proceedings,” Tecklenburg announced.

And SV Straelen? It is not yet clear whether the insolvency filing will have any consequences for the flower town’s Oberliga team. In any case, the days of dreaming of high spheres are long gone. Just under a year ago, Tecklenburg announced in his role as president that the club no longer wanted to go beyond the Oberliga.

However, a promotion of last year’s relegated fourth division team is not yet impossible. SVS is eight points behind first place in the Oberliga Niederrhein. In addition, it is not yet clear whether the better-placed teams Sportfreunde Baumberg and Ratingen 04/19 would make use of their promotion rights
