The series of the recently invincible in the 3rd division have been broken. Both SC Verl and Jahn Regensburg were unable to win.
In the 3rd division, the last game of the match day on Sunday saw a clash between SC Preußen Münster and SC Verl.
After 90 minutes, the Prussians beat the surprise team of recent weeks 3-1 (0-0). Verl still remains in third place after their first defeat in five games, while Münster have now climbed to 25 points in eleventh place – eleven points above the first relegation place.
The home side dominated the first half. Malik Batmaz had the best chance to put Münster in front, while Verl were hardly dangerous in attack.
After the break, Batmaz did better and scored to make it 1-0. The SCP were the better side in the second half, but Verl equalized. Maël Corboz scored the 1-1 with practically their first big opportunity.
Münster’s response? They went back in front. Just four minutes after the equalizer, it was Batmaz again who made it 2-1 to SCP. This was the eleventh goal of the season for the Preußen striker, who has now climbed to second place in the scoring charts behind Ingolstadt’s Jannik Mause (12 goals).
Shortly before the end, it then became really exciting: First Batista Maier missed the 2:2 – then Joel Grodowski scored the decisive goal – 3:1. Münster will continue next Saturday (December 16, 4:30 p.m.) in Unterhaching. SC Verl will play at home against SSV Ulm on the same day (2 p.m.).
Before the game in Münster, Dynamo Dresden had already defeated SpVgg Unterhaching 2-1 on Sunday. Jakob Lemmer scored the home side’s first goal in front of 25,272 spectators. After Dresden’s Claudio Kammerknecht was sent off, Dynamo had to play on with ten men.
In addition, there was a penalty in this scene, which Patrick Hobsch converted to make it 1-1. With his team down to ten, Dresden captain Stefan Kutschke scored the second penalty of the day to give his side the win.
Jahn Regensburg and Viktoria Cologne previously drew 1:1. Cologne equalized very late through Jonah Sticker (90.+8) to cancel out Regensburg’s 1:0, which meant that Regensburg missed out on their 11th consecutive league win.
