Preußen Münster defeats team of the moment, Regensburg series also breaks

The recent unbeaten streak in the 3rd division has come to an end. Both SC Verl and Jahn Regensburg were unable to win.

In the 3rd division, the last match of the matchday on Sunday was a clash between SC Preußen Münster and SC Verl.

After 90 minutes, Preußen prevailed 3:1 (0:0) against the surprise team of recent weeks. Verl nevertheless remain in third place after their first defeat following five wins in a row, while Münster have now climbed to eleventh place with 25 points – eleven points ahead of the first relegation place.

The hosts dominated the encounter in the first half. Malik Batmaz had the best chance to give Münster the lead, while Verl were hardly dangerous in attack.

Batmaz did better after the changeover and scored to make it 1:0. SCP were the better team after that, but Verl equalized. Maël Corboz scored with virtually the first big opportunity to make it 1:1.

Münster’s response? The lead again. Just four minutes after the equalizer, it was Batmaz again who made it 2:1 for the SCP. It was the eleventh goal for the Prussian striker, who climbed to second place in the goalscoring charts behind Ingolstadt’s Jannik Mause (12 goals).

Things got really exciting shortly before the end: First Batista Maier missed the 2:2 – then Joel Grodowski struck to make it 3:1. Münster continue their campaign next Saturday (December 16, 4:30 p.m.) in Unterhaching. SC Verl play at home against SSV Ulm on the same day (2 p.m.).

Before the game in Münster, Dynamo Dresden defeated SpVgg Unterhaching 2:1 on Sunday. Jakob Lemmer put the home side ahead in front of 25,272 spectators. After Dresden’s Claudio Kammerknecht was sent off, Dynamo had to play on with ten men.

In addition, a penalty was awarded, which Patrick Hobsch converted to make it 1:1. With the home side short-handed, Dresden captain Stefan Kutschke scored his second penalty of the day to secure victory.

Earlier, Jahn Regensburg and Viktoria Köln drew 1-1, with Köln equalizing late on through Jonah Sticker (90.+8) after Regensburg had missed out on their eleventh league win in a row with a 1-1 draw.
