The 22nd matchday in the 3rd division is complete. Borussia Dortmund’s U23 defeated a promotion candidate, Preußen Münster drew 1-1 in Ingolstadt.
Preußen Münster remained undefeated in their second match of the year. Three days after the derby win against Arminia Bielefeld, the eagle bearers picked up a point at FC Ingolstadt. The game ended 1:1 on Wednesday evening, with both goals scored in the early stages.
Joel Grodowski was the first to take the lead (4′). Pascal Testroet equalized after twelve minutes. Münster now occupy twelfth place in the table. FCI have lost sight of the relegation places for the time being and are six points behind in sixth place
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund’s U23s continued their unbeaten run. And they did so against SSV Jahn Regensburg, who would have returned to the top of the table with a point. However, BVB won 1:0, with Ole Pohlmann scoring the golden goal in the second half (67′). Thanks to the coup, Dortmund remained undefeated for the fifth time in a row. They have climbed to eighth place, while Regensburg are level on points with leaders Dynamo Dresden in second place.
SSV Ulm 1846, who currently occupy the promotion relegation place, extended their lead over rivals SV Sandhausen and Rot-Weiss Essen to three points. The promoted team won 2:0 at Arminia Bielefeld. Tom Gaal (10th) and Moritz Hannemann (90.+4) scored to ensure that Ulm started the new year with maximum points
Bielefeld, on the other hand, are likely to be in a crisis mood after the home defeat. It was the third defeat in a row, leaving Arminia just four points above the relegation places.
With a 1-0 win over Erzgebirge Aue, SV Sandhausen pushed Rot-Weiss Essen back down from fourth place, which RWE had temporarily taken with a 3-1 win over Viktoria Köln on Tuesday. Alexander Mühling scored the winning goal from the penalty spot (31′).
SC Freiburg’s U23s continue to slide towards relegation. The team at the bottom of the table is now 14 points adrift of safety. On Wednesday, SFC lost 1-0 at SpVgg Unterhaching, with Mathias Fetsch scoring a header for the promoted side (16′).
