Ephraim Kalonji made his second appearance in the MSV Duisburg shirt in the 1-1 draw in Bonn. However, he is unlikely to sign a contract. This is the profile for possible reinforcements
Ephraim Kalonji already got an hour of playing time in the 3-0 defeat in the 120-minute test against Münster in Telgte on Wednesday. The test player was unable to score any points against the second division side
In Bonn, Dietmar Hirsch also sent the former Düsseldorf player onto the pitch for one half. Although the attacker was involved in one dangerous attacking move, it will probably not be enough to keep him at MSV Duisburg on a permanent basis.
“I think it will be difficult. We don’t need someone who can play, we need players who can raise the quality and without anticipating it: That’s not the quality that will take us forward straight away,” Dietmar Hirsch replied when asked by RS.
As with the overall performance, the MSV coach was also not satisfied with the performance of second test player Marlon Monning. The former 1. FC Köln talent was even given the maximum penalty and was substituted early
But what do the two or three reinforcements so often mentioned in recent days have to bring to the table to make it into the Zebras’ regional league squad on a permanent basis? The club is currently still in talks with a “quality player”. A decision is to be made at the beginning of the week.
“Even if a player is training somewhere and is in the juice, he has to train with us for two weeks in order to form a bond. If a quality player comes in, I assume that he should also play,” explained Hirsch.
The main wish is for a winger who is ideally under the age of 23. A loan is also possible, but this would require more patience. “We need speed and players who can make the deep runs. We have some. But if they don’t do it, others have to come in,” demands the coach.
MSV Duisburg: Hirsch is waiting for Wegkamp
Regardless of the two test players and the as yet unknown potential addition, Gerrit Wegkamp returned to full team training two days ago after several weeks out injured. The striker would have been ready for the test in Bonn, but Hirsch did not want to take any risks. Apart from the test in Sonsbeck, MSV have not yet proved to be particularly accurate in their preparations. A fit Wegkamp will look good for the offense in the final spurt of the test match
