At Rot-Weiss Essen, there is currently another big topic besides the dream of the Bundesliga 2: contract negotiations.
Will he stay and extend his contract or will he leave Rot-Weiss Essen after two years next summer in 2024? That’s the question currently being asked by the red-white environment with regard to coach Christoph Dabrowski. But also in relation to leading players such as Felix Götze – Forecasting reported. In addition to the coach’s contract, 15 players’ contracts are also expiring.
Marcus Uhlig spoke to the portal “jawattdenn.de” about the current situation regarding Dabrowski.
When asked what is currently holding up a Dabrowski extension, Essen’s CEO replied: “There are no problems, but a contract extension is not a simple matter of writing down three numbers, it’s a complex process. Before it comes down to figures, there are discussions at various levels regarding backgrounds or potential analyses, what we can do as a club in the coming season, what personnel changes we want to make, what went well and what went badly. The process has been going on for a long time, but I’m not going to give a date for when we’ll announce anything.”
Uhlig has never made a secret of the fact that he is a big supporter of Dabrowski. He fought for the 45-year-old soccer coach to sign a two-year contract at Hafenstrasse in the summer of 2022 and also campaigned vehemently for this when some RWE fans loudly and repeatedly demanded Dabrowski’s dismissal last season.
Looking back, Uhlig says: “I always believed and still believe that if we are convinced of our path, we have to push something through, even in the face of resistance from the stands or the media. I’m glad that it worked because I personally put myself in front of Christoph Dabrowski.”
In relation to a possible contract extension, the RWE coach has repeatedly emphasized that the perspective must be right. That the club also had to develop in certain areas. Dabrowski, for example, is a great advocate of training camps. The club was unable to grant him this wish in the winter of 2024.
“However, I can already say that we are planning two training camps for the coming season, in summer and winter,” said Uhlig. Dabrowski will also be happy to hear that
