FC Gütersloh has succeeded in signing a well-known player. The experienced player Julian Schauerte joins the team from 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn.
FC Gütersloh has strengthened its team with a prominent player following its promotion to the Regionalliga West. Julian Schauerte will play at the Heidewald in the coming season.
The 35-year-old comes from 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn, who voluntarily withdrew from the fourth division, and has signed a one-year contract with FCG. Schauerte has been a regular in the Regionalliga for the past three years – first as captain of Preußen Münster, then in the past season at Kaan-Marienborn.
But the experience he has gained in his career goes much further: the player from Sauerland played 171 games in the 2nd Bundesliga, 138 in the 3rd Liga and played for KAS Eupen in the Belgian first division. Schauerte celebrated the second division championship with Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2018. He had already achieved the same in 2012 in the 3rd division in the jersey of SV Sandhausen.
“We also want to bring in players who have recently been regulars and know the Regionalliga,” said Gütersloh coach Julian Hesse, explaining the transfer in a club statement. “Julian has had a great career and was captain at Preußen Münster. We are bringing him in not only as an outside defender, but also as a leader in the defensive chain. He should organise and give structure to our game. Similar to Kevin Freiberger, the young players should take their cue from him and his professional attitude.”
FC Gütersloh: Schauerte the sixth new signing
Schauerte is the Gütersloh side’s sixth new signing – and the second player to join the Regionalliga newcomers from Kaan-Marienborn. FCG had recently signed Armin Pjetrovic, another regular player from the voluntarily relegated team.
In addition, Patrik Twardzik (Rot Weiss Ahlen), Hendrik Lohmar (SC Wiedenbrück), Lennard Rolf (Delbrücker SC) and Tim Matuscheswky (SC Verl II) will join the club. Meanwhile, Alexander Bannink (TuS Bersenbrück), Samy Benmbarek, Janik Steringer (both SF Lotte), Christian Will (FC Isselhorst), Tekin Gencoglu (Türkspor Dortmund), Nils Köhler, Nico Bartling (both destination unknown).
