Promotion contender parts ways with its coach

Change of coach in the Regionalliga. According to RS info, SV Rödinghausen and its coach go separate ways.

SV Rödinghausen has parted ways with coach Carsten Rump and co-coach Massimilian Porcello in the Regionalliga West. The RS report confirmed the club in the meantime.

Rump still had a contract until June 30, 2025. In the summer, he was still on the drawing board with third-league clubs, but now he could not meet expectations at Rödinghausen.

The trainer issue has already been on the table at SVR for several weeks. In mid-September, Rödinghausen’s managing director of sport Alexander Müller had stressed after the 0:1 against Alemannia Aachen, at that time the fifth defeat on the seventh matchday: “We also know that this is too little. We lose through a perfect free kick by Anton Heinz. Otherwise, we pressed in the 2nd half, but unfortunately just didn’t score. What should I blame the players or the coaching team for? The will is there, the commitment too, in training everyone works very hard. After the game, all I see are angry and disappointed faces. Everyone feels like they could throw up. These are important things that I see and therefore there is no reason to change anything.”

They obviously see things differently in Rödinghausen now. Four games and two defeats later, the barrel has overflowed. Because for one of the promotion favorites, things are only going well in the Westfalenpokal. Here, the SVR is in the quarterfinals after wins over SpVg Steinhagen, TSV Oerlinghausen and SC Rot Weiß Maaslingen.

In the league, however, hardly anything works. After the 0:1 loss at SC Wiedenbrück, Rödinghausen is only in twelfth place after eleven match days. The gap to the first place is already eleven points.

Sports director Alexander Müller explained after Rump’s departure: “We have had a very successful time with Carsten and Massi, after they came to us in a difficult situation. We hold them both in very high regard, which is why this decision was anything but easy for us. However, after an extensive analysis of the athletic development, we came to the conclusion that it is right to set new impulses with a change in the coaching position. We would like to thank Carsten and Massi for their commitment and wish them both all the best for their future careers and private lives.”

On Saturday (2 p.m.), Rödinghausen will now face SSVg Velbert, and a new coach is to be presented soon. Until then, interim U23 coach Jan Stromberg and his co-coach Lennard Warweg will take over the team.
