MSV Duisburg has achieved the liberation blow at SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Ralf Heskamp also spoke about the quality of the team in the context of the fifth win of the season.
No one in charge at MSV Duisburg wanted to talk about unrest in recent weeks. Thus, in addition to coach Torsten Ziegner, Duisburg’s managing director of sport Ralf Heskamp also exuded a great deal of optimism ahead of the difficult away match at SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Thanks to a strong performance, the Zebras stopped their negative away record of four consecutive defeats and, thanks to Bjarke Jacobsen’s own goal and goals from wildcard Kolja Pusch and Moritz Stoppelkamp, got their first win against a top team in the 3rd division (3:1), which allowed the Meiderich side to breathe a little easier in their relegation battle;
In addition to the three Ü30-routiniers Aziz Bouhaddouz, captain Moritz Stoppelkamp and Marvin Bakalorz, there were again three players on the pitch who are under 22 years old, Baran Mogultay, Jonas Michelbrink and Caspar Jander. “That’s a bit due to the situation as well. Actually, we would prefer to bring them on more calmly. But with so many injuries, they had to take responsibility early on. That’s what they did,” praised Heskamp on the Magenta Sport microphone before the game.
Ralf Heskamp continues to urge patience
With a view to the recent period of weakness after the good start to the season, the 57-year-old continued to urge patience. “I know the fans often don’t have it. But we have to approach the matter sensibly and objectively instead of emotionally and continue to keep calm.” He added that the question of quality was not on his mind. “The boys have shown that they can play football. It’s about standing securely at the back. The next step is to play better up front. We’ll get that right again,” said Heskamp, who was right.
Because MSV presented themselves in Wiesbaden much improved offensively and with a lot of confidence on the way forward. Unlike in recent weeks, the Ziegner eleven made effective use of its goal-scoring opportunities. Now it’s time for the Zebras to step up their game. In a week’s time on Saturday, however, the Meiderich side will be doomed to win again when they host last-placed and promoted SpVgg Bayreuth at the Schauinsland-Reisen-Arena.
