Ralf Fährmann suffers injury during private training

Since July 1, long-time Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann has been looking for a new club. But now an injury is preventing him from returning to the pitch.

It has been around two and a half months since Ralf Fährmann’s emotional farewell. He showed that he is still rooting for his long-time club FC Schalke 04 on the sidelines of the first game against Hertha BSC (2-1), when an Instagram story showed that he was watching the game on TV. But another detail recently caught the eye: the 36-year-old is wearing an elbow brace with drainage on his right arm. What happened?

Fährmann suffered a biceps injury during private training, as the WAZ newspaper reported. It also forced him to spend time in hospital. Fährmann, who celebrates his 37th birthday in September, has not yet found a new club. However, he has not announced the end of his career. Fährmann is currently keeping fit mainly with strength training, regularly posting pictures of his workouts on Instagram. At the end of June, he shared a video of a goalkeeper training session at Schalke’s training ground with Essen celebrity hairdresser Mustafa Mostafa. Fährmann is no longer often seen in the Ruhr area. He has left Recklinghausen, where he lived for a long time, and has put his house up for sale on Immobilienscout for almost three million euros. He now lives with his wife Nadine and his dogs in Lucerne, Switzerland, and spends some of his time in Mallorca. At the end of May, shortly after Fährmann’s departure from the Arena, Nadine Fährmann posted pictures of the city of Lucerne on social media with the comment: “New country, new city. And somewhere in between: a new us.” Fährmann moved from Chemnitz to Gelsenkirchen in 2003 at the age of almost 15 and became a fan favorite and even team captain during the Champions League era. He played 289 games for Schalke’s professional team. But recently, he lost numerous goalkeeper duels against competitors, spent more time on the bench, and fell out with the club’s management. It was only at his farewell that they pulled themselves together once again.
