Preußen Münster II leads the Oberliga Westfalen table, but is not allowed to move up. Nevertheless, one regular player will play in the Regionalliga West next season.
Preußen Münster’s second team is playing a strong season. Before the final spurt, the Adlerträgen are in first place in the Oberliga Westfalen, but as is well known, they are not allowed to move up.
It is clear that some of the top performers will be looking for a move to higher leagues in the summer, provided they do not play a role in the plans of their own club’s first team.
This was most recently the case with captain Ali Cirak, who is moving to SV Lippstadt in the Regionalliga West. And Francesco Di Pierro will also be playing in the fourth division from the summer onwards. The central midfielder is moving to SC Wiedenbrück. At the East Westphalians, the 23-year-old is the first new arrival for the upcoming season.
“Francesco is to strengthen our midfield as an eighth and, as a young talent, will get the chance to prove his qualities in the Regionalliga with us,” board member Dominik Jansen said happily in a statement from Wiedenbrück. One of those qualities is the German-Italian’s scoring threat: in 21 games this season, he scored eight goals.
Di Pierro played for Borussia Dortmund and SV Lippstadt in his youth, was also part of the regional league squad at SVL. However, he did not make more than two league appearances at that time. Di Pierro’s path led via Rot Weiss Ahlen to Münster in 2020.
He has also made first-team appearances for Prussia. In two Westfalenpokal matches this season, he was part of the starting eleven for the promoted third division team.
Shortly after the first new arrival, the Wiedenbrückers also announced contract extensions. Luca Kerkemeyer and Luca Beermann recently pledged to stay with the SCW for another year.
