ASC 09 Dortmund have bagged their next transfer. A very tall attacker from the youth team of VfL Bochum has arrived.
New impetus for the offensive: Josue Santo moves from the U19 team of VfL Bochum to Oberliga club ASC 09 Dortmund.
“He is an offensive player that we don’t have in the squad yet. I am very pleased that it has worked out with Josue,” says Samir Habibovic, sports director at the top division club from Dortmund-Aplerbeck.
The 19-year-old, who is 1.96 metres tall, played 17 matches in the last U19 Bundesliga season and scored four goals.
Santos brings with him a strong physique, good stamina and decent speed, which is not always a given with tall players. “He was able to convince us directly in the trial training and we are convinced that Josue will assert himself with us,” Habibovic emphasises.
Santo came to Bochum from the youth team of SpVg Hagen 1911, where he was used in the U17 and U19 teams both as a centre forward and on the flanks.
ASC 09 Dortmund: Regional League experience in the squad
The Aplerbeck side finished the past 2022/2023 Oberliga Westfalen season in 7th place in the table. With 49 points, ASC was only four points behind city rival Bövinghausen. As is well known, TuS wants to attack in the direction of promotion to the Regionalliga West in the coming series.
And the Aplerbeck team will also have a lot of plans. This is underlined not least by the signings of players like Joshua Mroß and Bajrush Osmani, who bring a lot of regional league experience with them. Previously, Marcel Münzel, a very important player, had extended his contract.
This means that the club will retain an important identification figure. The 32-year-old has spent his entire senior career with the ASC and was described as a “leader and legend” in the club’s announcement of the extension.
With Eron Morina, the ASC also signed another 19-year-old attacking talent alongside Santos from Bochum. He comes from the Spielvereinigung Hagen 1911 from the Landesliga Westfalen.
