Rot-Weiss Essen is spending the weekend in Turkey. The club’s management is exploring the market and looking for a successor to Tom Moustier.
The Rot-Weiss Essen management are putting their heads together these days. In Turkey, the supervisory board, executive board, and sporting management are seen together again and again. Planning is in full swing.
No wonder. RWE still has a lot to do on the transfer market. Tom Moustier is expected to leave the club for Portugal in the next few days. The Portuguese first division club will then transfer around €300,000 to the account of the third division club from Essen-Bergeborbeck.
Of course, it’s nice to earn such a transfer fee as a third division club. But it would be even nicer if Moustier’s successor were already lined up. And according to forecasting information, that is not yet the case. RWE still seems to be fishing in murky waters and is exploring the market. This is Tom Baack from 1. FC Nürnberg – the WAZ also reported on RWE’s interest in the former player of SC Verl, SSV Jahn Regensburg, and VfL Bochum. However, Baack, who was born in Essen, has not yet found his way to Hafenstraße. And that will remain the case for the time being. RWE recently made another inquiry about the midfield strategist Baack. But the 26-year-old, who has played just six games for the “Club,” is not for sale. FCN sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou has clearly rejected a winter transfer. Chatzialexiou told Bild newspaper: “He is someone who always gives his all in training and has recently proven that he can play well.”
According to RS information, three players that RWE inquired about are now out of the running: Tim Civeja (1. FC Saarbrücken), Vinko Sapina (SG Dynamo Dresden), and Tom Baack (1. FC Nürnberg). As we like to write these days: it remains a hot transfer winter 2026 for Rot-Weiss Essen.
