Relegated team has achieved first goal – Enochs with much praise for RWE

Rot-Weiss Essen will welcome Jahn Regensburg on Saturday. The relegated team is still unbeaten and has to do without one player.

Jahn Regensburg said goodbye to the international break with a home win against MSV Duisburg. At the restart of the 3rd division, SSV face their second district duel in a row when they travel to Rot-Weiss Essen on Saturday (2 p.m., RS-Liveticker).

Looking at the results, both teams are currently on a high of form. RWE have eight points from their last four games. Regensburg are even among the three unbeaten third division teams (two wins, three draws) and could move up to a promotion spot with a win in Essen.

“At the end of the day, we are satisfied,” says coach Joe Enochs, looking back on the first weeks of the new season. “We have achieved our goal of finding our way around the league, which we set out before the season, in the first five games. We have shown that we are playing a good role.”

After the major upheaval in the summer, Enochs believes the relegated side still face a long process, but steps in the right direction can be seen, he says: “We are getting closer together, becoming more mature and our game is becoming clearer. “

The Regensburg team has already suffered one defeat this season. Last week, Jahn lost to their league rivals FC Ingolstadt on penalties. “Enochs was “disappointed” about the third-round exit, “but we were satisfied with the performance.

The 52-year-old American also had words of praise for RWE. He judged the Berbebebeck side as “mature and detached” in their 2-0 away win against Freiburg II on the last matchday. “We can expect a robust team that is strong in two fights, with strong switching, and that has a great line-up in every position.”

Enochs expects Rot-Weiss to be like the derby win against Münster, where “the spectators also had a lot of influence on the game”. In general, it is a great experience to play in the stadium at Hafenstraße. Enochs once stood on the sidelines in a competitive match in Essen, last season in the service of FSV Zwickau.
