Relegation candidates annoy top clubs, Siegen conquers first place with Gala

Important points for two relegation candidates against two top teams in the Oberliga Westfalen. Sportfreunde Siegen benefit and temporarily take the lead in the table.

The 12th matchday in the Oberliga Westfalen begins with three Saturday games. And a highlight was set in the first one.

Because bottom-placed TuS Bövinghausen managed to get a point against 1.FC Gievenbeck in a 3-3 draw. Initially, it was the hosts who opened the scoring. Jeffrey Malcherek (9th minute) made it 1-0, but Louis Martin quickly equalized (16th minute). The teams went into the dressing rooms with the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Bövinghausen managed to equalize twice. First, Leonardo Twumasi (70′) scored on a counterattack after Gentrit Muja (55′) had opened the scoring. Dominik Wasilewski equalized Nils Heubrock’s (75′) 3-2 for Gievenbeck ten minutes before the final whistle, thereby earning the bottom-placed team a point.

The game between Victoria Clarholz and Westfalia Rhynern was somewhat less eventful than the one in Dortmund. Sergio Gucciardo’s goal in the 21st minute was the only one of the game, and the hosts celebrated an important three points in the relegation battle. Westfalia, on the other hand, suffered a setback in the race for promotion.

In the third game of the day, Sportfreunde Siegen faced Concordia Wiemelhausen at 6 p.m. In contrast to their two competitors, Rhynern and Gievenbeck, the team of coach Thorsten Nehrbauer did not show any weakness and won clearly 6-0 (4-0) against the second-to-last team in the table. This means that Siegen is the league leader, at least for one night.

The game was already over after 45 minutes. Derrick Kyere opened the scoring with a double (22nd, 29th), Cagatay Kader (39th) and former Preußen Münster professional Shaibou Oubeyapwa (45th) made it 4-0 at half-time. Georgios Mavroudis (75th minute) and Oubeyapwa (82nd minute) increased the lead in the second half.

The match day continues tomorrow, Sunday (October 27), with six games. VfL Bochum II, who can take the lead again with a win at Rot Weiss Ahlen, and SG Wattenscheid (at home against Preußen Münster II), are among the teams in action.
