Three basement children were in action on Sunday in the 3rd league. From the precinct point of view, Easter Sunday went almost perfectly.
Place 20, 19 and 18 were in the 3rd League on Easter Sunday in action. With little success, which pleased MSV Duisburg, Rot-Weiss Essen and Borussia Dortmund’s U23.
SV Meppen – FC Ingolstadt 0:3
At the very bottom of the table, SV Meppen wanted to send a sign of life at 1 pm. However, this did not succeed against FC Ingolstadt, which has been stumbling badly lately. The home game against the “Schanzer” was also lost, after 90 minutes the score was 0:3.
Hope in Emsland is fading more and more. Against Ingolstadt it was 0:0 after 45 minutes, then the guests came. Patrick Schmidt scored after just under an hour to take the lead, and Meppen never recovered from that.
Moussa Doumbouya and Tobias Bech in injury time made everything clear for Ingolstadt. While Meppen faces relegation to the Regionalliga, FCI coach Michael Köllner, who was only hired during the week, had a perfect debut.
FSV Zwickau – 1. FC Saarbrücken 2:2
A somewhat different picture in Zwickau. Here, Saarbrücken wanted to take a step towards the 2nd Bundesliga. FSV wanted to close the gap to the rescue bank.
For a long time, it looked as if the underdog might win. Maximilian Jansen gave the hosts the lead before the break. After the change, Jan-Marc Schneider increased the lead to 2:0, but FCS showed morale and managed to gain a point with two goals from Adriano Grimaldi.
Saarbrücken is now three points behind the relegation place, where Dynamo Dresden is. Zwickau increased its points tally to 28 and is now four points behind the first non-relegation spot, currently held by Hallesche FC.
SC Verl – SpVgg Bayreuth 4:1
SC Verl continues to surprise in the 3rd league. They also won a three-goal game against Bayreuth, and the victory was already secured in the first half.
Michel Stöcker scored after 21 minutes to make it 1:0, Joel Grodowski scored just before the break to make it 2:0. The guests did not give up and came through Jann George shortly before the end to tie the game, but it was not enough to equalize. On the contrary, Stijn Meijer and Mael Corboz scored in the closing minutes to make it 3:1 and 4:1 for SC Verl.
Verl is in tenth place after the matchday with now a strong 42 points, far away from the promotion fight or relegation worries. Bayreuth slipped back to the first relegation spot after the setback – the promoted team is one point behind Halleschen FC.
Good for MSV and RWE: Despite their own defeats, the cushion on Bayreuth is five points, while BVB’s 5-0 win at MSV puts them three points clear of 17th place.
