Work on the last remaining floodlight mast at the Parkstadion can probably start soon. This was announced by the Ultras Gelsenkirchen.
Good news for all FC Schalke 04 fans who are concerned about the renovation of the last remaining floodlight mast at the Parkstadion. The work can probably start soon. This was announced by the Ultras Gelsenkirchen. They initiated the campaign.
In February last year, the “UGE” gave the go-ahead and issued a retro-style Parkstadion scarf. This was sold to S04 supporters for 15 euros. There were also fundraising campaigns. Initially, it was said that 150,000 euros would be needed to restore the floodlight mast and actually make it shine again. That was already a Herculean task.
But then the costs exploded. Instead of the 150,000 euros, far more than 200,000 euros had to be raised. A moment of shock. For a short time, the project was on the brink of collapse. But even this incredible sum has now been raised by the fans. “In addition to the logistical challenges surrounding the production and sale of the Park Stadium Scarf, it was primarily the ever-increasing costs that were to present us with a major challenge. Geopolitical developments and the associated enormous increase in the cost of raw materials, working materials and energy prices caused the costs for the final realisation of the project to skyrocket,” the Ultras now confirmed.
But: “Despite these enormous hurdles, at the end of this year we can indeed pass on the joyful news to all of you that together we have managed to raise the required sum. In the past few days, we were able to transfer the last few euros to the appropriate offices,” the “UGE” explain on their homepage. “Thanks to your support, we have managed to raise the sum of 222,959.20 euros! This achievement can justifiably fill us all together with great pride. Once again we have proven what we can achieve together!”
Thus, the implementation of the project can probably start in 2023.
