The Borussia Dortmund attacker will probably be fit again in time for the second half of the season. That’s why BVB is no longer looking around for a replacement.
Apparently, there is good news from Borussia Dortmund. The return of Sébastien Haller to the football pitch is becoming increasingly likely. The player, who has testicular cancer, has had to take a break for six months, but his use in the second half of the season is very likely.
According to this newspaper, BVB is very optimistic that Haller will be able to play again in time for the second half of the season. That is why they are not looking for a new striker in the winter.
It is therefore quite possible that the goal scorer will return to training as early as January. The 28-year-old Ivorian underwent another tumour operation about a fortnight ago, which he says he has come through well.
“A new stage on the road to recovery,” the Borussia Dortmund goal scorer wrote optimistically on Twitter afterwards. “Operation number two went well.” He also posted a picture of himself in the hospital.
The goalkeeper was diagnosed with testicular cancer at BVB’s training camp shortly after his summer transfer from Ajax Amsterdam in July.
Last summer, BVB signed the attacker from Ajax Amsterdam for 31 million euros. Actually, the national player of the Ivory Coast was supposed to compensate for the departure of Erling Haaland. However, he was then diagnosed with testicular cancer. The striker had initially complained of feeling unwell after a session at BVB’s training camp in Bad Ragaz/Switzerland in July. The tumour was then discovered during intensive medical examinations.
