Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has been on a strong run lately, but nevertheless…

Fortuna Düsseldorf II travels to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen on Saturday. The F95 reserve team wants to put an end to RWO’s incredible run.

On Saturday, January 24, Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U23 team continues in the Regionalliga West: On match day 19, Jens Langeneke’s team will be guests at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen. “Overall, the preparations for the second half of the season went well, and we got through without any major injuries. We braved the weather conditions and got creative. For the past week and a half, however, the focus has been on Saturday’s game, and we’re excited to get started again,” says Langeneke.

Langeneke is also aware that the opponent, who has gone eleven competitive games without defeat and whose last loss was on September 20, 2025 (1-2 against 1. FC Köln II), is a major hurdle. He emphasizes: “RWO has had a strong run recently, but after the winter break, we’re starting from scratch again. We want to pick up where we left off in the first leg. We had a very good start to the season back then. Now we want to try to carry that momentum into the second half of the season.”

Düsseldorf strengthened their squad with three new players in January 2026: Moritz Montag (MSV Duisburg), Chernoh Bah (Kickers Offenbach), and Kaden Amaniampong (VfB Stuttgart II). The trio is expected to help Fortuna’s second team play a better second half of the season and ultimately celebrate staying up.

Langeneke: “Our first half of the season was quite a wild ride. We had an outstanding start with 14 points after seven games. This was followed by a long losing streak, which included some games that you probably only experience once in a lifetime. Of course, in terms of results, we are not where we want to be. But then there’s also the development of Elias Egouli and Hamza Anhari, who we both transferred to the professional squad at the start of the season. It was a mixed first half of the season. We’d like the second half to be a little calmer and more balanced. When you’re on 18 points after 18 games, the first priority is to collect points to stay up.”
