Third division team Dynamo Dresden deservedly defeated Rot-Weiss Essen 2:1 (1:1). Once again, Ahmet Arslan was the main topic after the final whistle.
That Ahmet Arslan is the man for the special moments at Dynamo Dresden, he delivered this proof once again in the 2-1 home win against Rot-Weiss Essen on Saturday afternoon. The league’s top scorer was instrumental in three game-defining scenes.
In the 13th minute, Dynamo’s number six scored a fantastic overhead kick for a 1-0 lead. A goal of the month – his 19th goal of the season. After Ron Berlinski’s equalizer, Arslan also provided the decisive impetus before the 2:1.
His cross with his weaker left foot was headed into the net by Dennis Borkowski. Dresden confirmed its series as the in-form third division team of the last ten games with the 2-1 win.
The 29-year-old was delighted with his two scorer points in an interview with “Magenta Sport”: “With my goal, I didn’t think and just did it. I’m happy that it worked. At the moment I don’t have any thoughts before the goal, it works quite well. I will save the video. But I’m also happy that it worked out again with a submission. “
The Rother is a player who annoys and insults you for 90 minutes – even sometimes with insults below the belt. That’s not an accusation, it’s his way.
Ahmet Arslan.
In the final phase, however, there was a scene that could still have consequences for Arslan. The midfielder deliberately stepped on the foot of his opponent Björn Rother and then the RWE six-pointer followed up. The referee only saw Rother’s reaction and sent him off with a red card.
Arslan described the situation from his perspective after the final whistle: “Rother is a player who annoys and insults you for 90 minutes – even sometimes with insults below the belt. That’s not an accusation, it’s his way. I’m someone who doesn’t then shoot back verbally. Of course, it looks stupid because I lightly step on his foot. I knew he was a player who would kick. If there had been a Fandrich standing there, who is really experienced, he would never have kicked back. I did that a bit cleverly. It was a game-changing scene.”
The fourth-placed team in the table now faces the weeks of truth. The upcoming opponents are 1. FC Saarbrücken, Waldhof Mannheim, SC Freiburg II and SV Wehen Wiesbaden – all teams ranked among the top seven in the table. Then it will also depend on the top form of Ahmet Arslan again.
