Rush at FC Gütersloh – home section sold out for Union Berlin match

FC Gütersloh can look forward to strong fan support against 1. FC Union Berlin in the DFB Cup. The home section at Heidewaldstadion is sold out.

The home section is sold out for FC Gütersloh’s DFB Cup match against 1. FC Union Berlin. Following the capacity increase to 10,431 spectators (instead of 8,400) approved by the city of Gütersloh, FCG has sold all additional standing room tickets.

The club reported that there was a real rush for the additional tickets. “When tickets went on sale at the stadium on Monday, the first football fans were already queuing up more than three hours in advance to get their hands on a ticket. A queue around 200 meters long formed. Office manager Michael Swiers therefore started selling tickets half an hour early to reduce the waiting time. After a good hour, all tickets were sold. No more tickets are available from FCG.”

The excitement is huge in East Westphalia. After 2023, they will be competing in the DFB Cup for only the second time this millennium. Last time, they lost 2-0 to Holstein Kiel in the first round.

Ticket sales for away fans are being handled by 1. FC Union Berlin.
